Nudging [Aug. 24th, 2009|10:19 pm]
So I noticed that my entire friends page is taken up by one person.  Not because they post a huge lot, but because some of my other friends haven't posted in 133 weeks :D  I love the nudge function

Ok, not quite 6 months but meh.  For anybody in Perth, the Da Vinci exhibit on the foreshore is awesome.  Go see it.  Or if you're too lazy, just see my photos:

Shameless marketing plug [May. 4th, 2008|08:01 pm]
This isn't a post, it's a shameless publicity plug XD

flikr.com/photos/khaine

I'll be uploading most of the stuff I do where other people are involved, as well as some of my "projects".  My best shots (as well as stuff from hard-to-access places) won't be going online, but if you're reading this you'll probably know me IRL so you can just ask to see them

Drink of the moment:

Double rum (dark)
Coke
Several teaspoons of lemon-juice (enough to counter sweetness of Rum and coke)
Serve on the rocks in standard tumbler

Brilliant!  Usually I don't like rum and coke type things 'cause they're too sweet, but this is awesome.

Saturday I caught up with Parno, and we went to collect Jayco to then play some basketball.  2 problems arose - we didn't have a basketball, and when we did recover Jayco's ball from his normal residence in South Perth (he had been staying with a relative elsewhere) it was flat :P

So then we went to Garbo to get a needle for Jayco's bike pump so he could pump up the ball.  Stopped by one of Parno's mate's places to see if he wanted to play ball, but he wasn't home, so we went to Garbo, ducked into a sport's store near K-Mart and got some needles.  Unfortunately I'd organised a bunch of people to go and see The Illusionist at Hoyts Carousel, telling everybody to meet at 1415, and it was now 1415...with us still at Garbo.

So we hightailed it to Carousel, made it there 5 minutes after the start time.  Still got in ok, despite Jayco and Parno not having enough cash on them to pay for their tickets (yupo, luckily I had discount vouchers and excess cash).  So it was a good movie, though I saw the plot coming like a freight train in a tunnel.

Went to the beach Saturday evening for a ... well ... don't actually know what it was supposed to be, 'cause the people there didn't really fit into any objective.  Let's just call it a cross-university-church-event.  That was fun, had a great time.  And people's need to take photos of LJ was hilarious.  Don't think she found it too funny though :D  Went to Freo town after for coffee, but ended up at Armano having icecream at 2100ish.  I love that place, they have some great icecreams, and I want to go to their Fremantle store sometime with a few people and have some pistachio icecream.  Any takers?

Next up it was Sunday.  Duh, you wouldn't have guessed that Sunday came after Saturday, but it does.  Standard church on Sunday, though ended up helping Tim pack up after service (lol, even when I'm not rostered on....).  I do think that Gerrard did the right thing though, we (the L&M team) do kinda get taken for granted and there is a need for more structure and for people, if they want a video clip or something up, to get it to us mid-week (Noal said today something along the lines of "but what if Sanjeev (worship leader) is prompted by the Holy Spirit to do something?  I don't think that's often the case, but he has a point there that we need to strike a balance between structure and flexibility).

After church I helped Simon to re-wire the speakers in the parent's room so that people with noisy children can now take them to the room without missing out on the service, or having their children disrupting things.  Was a much easier job than Simon had anticipated, though I must admit I'm no good with sharp wire-stripping tools.  Much prefer the blunt ones.  Took up Parno on his invite to go to his for lunch (taco's and wraps, yummo choice feed) then went with Simmo and bought some wireless (aka. RF if you want to be "technical") microphones for the church.  Got a couple and a receiver, tested them out and it's awesome.  Noal loves them (showed them to him yesterday).

So then in the evening of Sunday a few of us (Brendan, Grace, LJ and I) headed off to Subi.  It was great fun, especially when something caught on fire and the hall really filled with the smell of burning (nothing like the smell of sulpher in the sermon *cough cough* I mean morning ;o) ).  'twas a decent service, and afterwards played a bit of tabletennis (Grace has awesome power at that) and then pool (blowing my own trumpet here, I was 4 balls down and ok to lose, then sunk 5 in a row to win).  Turns out I was playing against an American female exchange student called Kat (yep, CIA people will get why that was funny, though this one is from Texas).  Then went to supper with peeps from Subi, and ended up chatting to said Kat.  Had a fun time, will need to head back to Subi night services a few times in the next 5 months before she leaves.  I like Texans.  Talked to LJ about stuff on the way out, it was quite a fun discussion (semi-d&m) with a bit of input from Brenno every now and then.

Monday decided that I needed to catch up with people at some point, despite it being a public holiday, so had a mixed CIA/church peeps dinner.  Sorry to those who didn't get invited, I just don't love you enough ;o)  Twas fun, had a good turn-out (3 CIA, 2 church and myself, though Tim is really CIA and Church).  Simmo joined us for Baskin and Robbins afterwards, and a good feed and time was had by all.  Funniest part of the evening for me was Binky suggesting that I should get a turban until my hair grows "long enough".  Actually, I don't disagree, though I'd need to get the material and then have her teach me how to tie it.  I think Noal might freak a bit if I walked into service with one on though? XD

So yes, today I had all Sociology units at Uni, wherein I walked out of my lecture due to my personal perception of it being as boring as Guano (technical term in place of the usual phrase).  The time inbetween that and my tutorial was spent in the Comssa common room, wherein I beat all takers at snooker.  One of the games did drag on a bit, with myself and my worthy opponent both on the black ball going for different pockets.  That was frustrating, but I prevailed (yadda yadda yadda).  The tutorial was fun, had a nice chat to an attractive gal afterwards as I showed her to the bus-port (unfortunately, when discussing World of Warcraft and how crap it is, she dropped the line "oh my boyfriend's younger brother plays that, it's so stupid).  Oh well, lots of other opportunities.  Managed to ninja my way into the roll of Team Leader for my Strategy group, and then used the famous line - "and my first duty as your leader is to say goodbye.  Somebody fill me in on what happens" (had to leave mid-way through).

Well, went to see Music and Lyrics today, I like romantic comedies.  Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, it was a good flick (though a tad short at 1.5 hours) and I had a good chuckle (the whole cinema did in fact at points).  Nice ending, and there was a twist (ish thing) that you didn't see coming.  Got dinner somewhere I haven't had for ages, cycled home and had a good feed.  And drink.

All in all a nice week so far, though I'm still looking for drinking partners for Friday evening, at my usual in the city.

EuroTrip!!! (sorta) [Mar. 5th, 2007|12:02 am]
How valid would people think is the idea of a road-trip to Sydney during the month off mid-year between Uni semesters?  Also, any tips from anybody who's ever done anything like this?

Food for thought [Mar. 2nd, 2007|10:07 pm]
I'm reading a book that I got for my baptism, and in it the author states that Star Wars is part of the "volley against (Christian) faith" due to it's "propagating of Eastern pantheistic thought.  Now I always thought that if anything Star Wars was quite a morally good film - good versus evil, and the idea of always doing the right thing through to the end....what do ya'll reckon?

Joining the Darkside [Mar. 1st, 2007|07:14 pm]
Well, I had my interview at Westnet today.  Went well I think, so I'm one step closer to selling my soul.

Started off doing a 4 - 5 page questioner on my knowledge of all things internet, went ok.  It's not a pass fail thing, just a test of you're level of knowledge.  I guess they cant cope with *total* n00bs.

Next up talked to a HR assistant and one of the guys from Tech support, that seemed to go well so the HR person showed me around the actual tech support "pit" while we waited for the HR manager to become available (apparently you dont normally talk to the HR manager until your 2nd interview, so I take this as a good sign).

So then talked to the HR manager, and she seemed happy to.  I'm stoked about getting another job finally, and it seems like a good place to work, and that it'll fit well with my uni.  Now I'm just waiting for them to check my references and hopefully I'll get "the call" tomorrow.

Awesome p0w44!

Thunderstruck! [Feb. 26th, 2007|05:01 pm]
Had an awesome thunder storm this morning - dont know how many of you saw it.  Heaps of lightning and some huge rolls of thunder.  Only downside being the frequent disruptions of the internet.  Not sure if it was the modem being subject to surges or brownouts, or the phone lines playing up.  But all in all, very awesome.

Tsk tsk tsk [Feb. 16th, 2007|12:32 pm]
Hmmm, I must say that Jeremy from Top Gear has been rather....well "inappropriate" lately.  And it's hilarious XD

Last week:

"Well, this wasnt the type of hedge I was planning to end my night in"

This week:

5 "bleeps" to cover up really "naughty" words, and the two crackers:

"65 quid for something that looks like a mummified testicle" and "the only thing wrong is the smell.  The smell of my pharoah's testicle here"

Classic.  And it's a 'G' rated show ;o)

Also, so I'm not making too many posts and flooding my friend's pages:

So who owns who? [Feb. 16th, 2007|12:20 pm]

And what I find really interesting, is that due to the buy and sell nature of the car business you can buy an English SUV with a German engine from an American company. (Land Rover, which was bought by BMW, kitted out with BMW engines and then sold to Ford).

Sift two cups of flour.  Add two and a half cups of milk, two eggs and a pinch of salt.  Whisk, then fry in a teaspoon of butter.  Drown in lemon juice and sprinkle with white sugar.

End result - heaven in your mouth :o)
